Grapefruit Basil Smash

A garden party in a glass! Here, you get a burst of bright and tangy grapefruit flavour, beautifully balanced by the aromatic essence of basil. The result is a harmonious medley of flavours that invigorates your palate and leaves you feeling revitalized.

What you need

  • 2 tsp pink grapefruit balsamic vinegar
  • 3 oz coconut water (unsweetened)
  • 1 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • 1 oz sparkling water
  • 4-5 basil leaves

What you do

  1. Muddle the basil leaves, vinegar, coconut water and grapefruit juice together in a shaker with a spoon or muddler.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  3. Put on the lid and shake for 15-30 seconds.
  4. Fill a cocktail or highball drinking glass with ice and strain the liquid into the glass (optional – can also partially strain or simply pour the mixture into the glass).
  5. Add soda water and garnish with a fresh grapefruit slice.
  6. Alternatively, you can add 4 oz of soda water to 1-1.5 tsp of grapefruit vinegar and muddled basil leaves if you don’t have coconut water or fresh grapefruit for a simple and fast option.
